Spicy Fish Fry

Fish is one of my all time favourite seafood! This is one food I find very hard to resist. Fish is a low fat, high protein super food. Fish is an excellent source of vitamins, minerals and most important is the omega-3-fatty acids that make fish the most popular choice in healthy food.

The secret to Spicy fish fry recipe is the spice combinations used to marinate, the fresh fish and shallow fried to perfection. There are many different ways that you can season your fish. You can adjust the spice level according to your taste. This Spicy fish fry can be eaten as an appetiser and tastes magical when paired with sambar or rasam rice.

 

Preparation Time : 5 mins

Marination Time : 20 mins

Cooking Time : 20 mins

Total Time : 45 mins


Ingredients :

Fish -

Chilli powder - 2 tsp

Shallots - 10 - 12

Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves - 1- 2 string

Salt - As required

Lemon juice - 1 tsp

Oil - For frying


Method :

  1. Wash and clean fish thoroughly, remove excess water from the fish.

  2. Grind a paste with all the ingredients except the fish and oil with little water.

  3. Marinate the fish with the prepared paste for 20 minutes or you can leave it overnight for spices to blend well into the fish.

  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat to shallow fry the fish.

  5. Once the pan is hot enough, place the fish and let it cook on each side for 4 to 5 minutes such that the fish is fully cooked.

  6. Be gentle while flipping the fish otherwise the masala will come out.

Serve with sambar or rasam rice.

Notes :

  • Spices can be adjusted according to the taste.

  • Marinating the fish overnight helps the spices to blend well into the fish.

  • Pepper powder and garam masala can be added for extra taste.
